New Member, '96 Camry Tire Question

Hi All,
Really glad to know you exist! Discovered TN yesterday while searching the web for a final, definitive answer to conflicting advice about tire replacement for my 4-cyl '96 Camry LE. It feels great to know that there's a homeplace 'inhabited' by other Camry owners like myself!
I apologize for such a long post, but here's my tire problem: Just when I had narrowed it down to either 4 Yokohama Avid TRZ all-season tires or BF Goodrich Traction T/A all-seasons (both with T Speed Ratings), I discovered that the specs in my manual/glove box sticker call for P19570R14H tires.

About half the tire places and Toyota parts departments I called said it was important to not replace my tires with a lower speed rating than original specs, because the higher H-rated tires were designed to be compatible with the '96 Camry's suspension, and it will affect handling and stability.

The other half advised that if I'm not going to be doing high speed driving (I don't go over 65 mph highway!), then T-rated tires will be fine. Since it's my understanding that H-rated tires cost more, wear faster, are slightly worse in light snow, and give a 'harder' ride than T-rated tires, I wouldn't want to switch to the Dunlop SP Sport A2 Plus H-rated tire, if it's totally unnecessary. Is it also true that I'll "feel the speed" more with H-rated tires because there's more "road feel"? (I personally don't like that feeling.)

I've owned my Camry for nearly two years, it's got around 90k miles on it, and the tires that the used car dealer had on it were two S-rated Questars in the rears, and a mix of S and T Toyos on the fronts. (Handling hasn't been as tight and precise as I'd like, but it could be because of the mixture of speed ratings and the fact that all four need replacement due to premature tread wear.)

I mostly care about feeling safe in my car on dry, wet, and light snow conditions, while being on a budget in making this tire purchase. Any other '96 Camry owners out there with all-season tires they have had either good or bad luck with? Opinions as to whether original specs H speed rated tires must be followed? Help! and a big thanks!!!!!

I was running Sport A2's on mine but they kept wearing out too fast. (I drive too hard.) Currently have Traction TA's but they are H rated. Seem good to me. Know they have 195/70R 14 H.

Thanks, Dave.
Since I posted, the mystery/controversy got even more bizzare!
Just about all the Tire Manufacturer websites (BF Goodrich, Michelin, Kumho, etc.) list the OEM for the '96 Camry LE as 195/70R14S and list the H speed rating as OEM only for the XLE. I have an LE, but my glove box sticker has an H in the specs. Does anyone know what to make of this???
