Thinking about getting a Tacoma

Hello,

So I found this site a week ago and I have been surfing around mostly just looking at all the cool trucks and how everybody is modding them.

A little about me and our current toys...I am a moderator on a Subie board. My wife and I own a 02 WRX Wagon with a STi motor swap in it along with a 05 STi and we have a 03 Chevy 2500HD with the 8.1 and allison tranny.

Anyways we plan to sell the wagon and the silverado and replace them with a new tacoma since we will be having twins due in January and this way it will cut down some of our monthly costs. I am leaning towards the long bed (dogs) but I have only seen it (on here) in the sport model. I would prefer the off-road model.

What is the real difference between the two when it comes to off-road?

Thanks for any info you guys/gals can provide and BTW great site

Kory

I just bought the sport one, the off road one comes with BFG tires, which IMHO are very noisy, and it comes with a rear locker, and i belive it only comes in a manual but dont quote me on that last one. I do know you cant order a offroad one with a long bed, only the 4'.

Good luck

You can always get the sport option and then put an aftermarket locker on it. I went from a Silverado (2003) to a Tacoma and I'm glad I did it. The SIlverado is a nice truck, drives excellent on the highway and is great in snow.....but the Tacoma is a lot more fun to drive and muuuuch better on gas and easier to manuever. Good luck.
