I am and have been a toyota fan/enthusiast for a LONG time...It all started with my 88 Celica I4 22RE 5 speed... I loved that car I learned to drive a stick with that car... Long night and not enough sense and I wrecked it.
Since then I went through numerous american made cars Ford/Chevy (Mopar makes me sick ... with the exception of 60's 70's Mopar) I inherited my wifes 97 corrolla in 2001 it had appr. 60,000 when I took over the maintenance and daily driving. Until 2 weeks ago when I had an accident... I flipped it after rearending an idiot who crossed over on the interstate. landed on the roof and scared the Crap out of me.. I walked away... literally! Seat Belts save lives as well as the wonderful introduction of the Airbag. at the time of the accident/Loss I had 155,000 on it. Ran like a champ and didn't leak a drop of anything.
My Father in Law is a very intelligent man who loves Toyota products for the same reason many his age do... The Quality!!! Toyota has always sold a quality product. sure they are a little more expensive but with the proper maintenance and common sense they will give you YEARS of service. He owned a 89 xtracab 4X4 P/U 173,000 owns, 99 Lexus RX300 and 96 4 runner.
After coming to a point in life where I could buy what I wanted not what I could afford I went out and bought my wife a 05 Camry LE... Sport trim (spoiler, wheels, exhaust) Beautiful car and I couldn't be happier with it as of now. The Camry has been and will continue to be the best midsize sedan on the market as far as bang for your buck goes...
Now, after the previaously mentioned accident/Loss... I aquired the 89 xtracab 4X4 P/U from my FIL. It has been WELL MAINTAINED however it does have 173,000 on it. I joined this forum to Learn more and have a vast resource of knowledge about the P/U and the 22RE engine. I currently use a forum for my Plastic Chevy (79 Corvette) and have found it to be immensly helpful. I look forward to using this forum in the same way.
