Question want to do Supra swap

hello,
I don't exactly own a Toyota, but I wish to put a Toyota drivetrain in a car. It is a 1963 Chevy Nova. My plans involve putting a 7M or (ultimate fantasy) 2jz in the car, with the corresponding trans. my ultimate goal is to use the engine, ECU, trans, rearend and suspension from a Supra. I know it will be a lot of fabwork, but I am willing to do it to get this car on the road. The car most likely WILL NOT be a raced car, maybe a couple stints at a drag strip or drift events until i can afford a roll structure and such. I would prefer to use a nonturbo motor for the time being, can I boost these later if I so desire, or is that a lot of work too?

Hey there, welcome.

I think it would be best to go turbo outright instead of turbocharging an NA model. You have things to worry about with the 7M-GE - no oil squirters, it has a distributor vs. coil packs, among other things. Spend the blood, sweat, and tears only once. Go 7M-GTE. (or 2JZ-GTE if you so desire and your budget permits)

also, do either of these transmissions (manual) have different spots to place the shifter? I'm afraid they will be shoved too far forward in the former column-manual car...

Welcome to the Boards..

Why not just go all out and squeeze a 6.0L LS2 in there? That would be "much more fun".

But unfortunately i cant help you on the engine questions. Possibly just go to the wreckers and have a look?

I thought about putting a small block in there (actually my brother did) but my dad said he wanted to "keep an L-6 in there" cause he doesnt want to have to "buy new springs, blablabla..." but he approved my idea saying that as long as I get it done and take it with me when I move out, I can have it. BTW the car's not real pristine, actually its not pristine at all...the LF is all bent up from a minor accident before my dad bought it, theres holes rusted in the floor and a big one my brother cut in the trans tunnel for a floorshift...its ugly right now...
also, I wanted to put the supra motor and trans in the car because the would be lighter than the current boatanchors inside the car, and need i mention the power you can squueze from a 2JZ? My all-out fantasy goal for the car would be to make it into a professional drift car, as I have plans to attempt to make that my career.
