USA future Taco owner.....maybe.

Sorry, I never did introduce myself. I'm not a Tacoma owner yet, but I have been considering downsizing to one. I currently drive a Ford F250 crew cab 4x4 shortbed with the 6.0 Powerstroke diesel, Tow Command, upfitter switches, straight pipe exhaust, external trans filter, superlift leveling coils in the front, 285/70/17 BFG a/t's, and a max trailer weight of A LOT!!! The truck is a towing beast. I have a beautiful wife and 2 little boys ages 2 and 4. I fish, camp, ride mountain bikes, and do anything else to stay outside to avoid house cleaning. If I do downsize to a Taco, I will get the DC 4x4 off road. I just worry it will be to small to handle my 4600# dry weight trailer, and 4 passengers with gear in the bed. I should probably consider a long bed, but I really want the off road package. I guess I could get a long bed with the sport model , and just add a locker, but I really don't want the 17" wheels either. Why can't they just make the locker and skid plates an option on all 4x4's reguardless of bed size? See ya.

Sounds like your better off with the Ford.....thats a lot of weight for the Taco. The Powerstroke Diesel is a nice engine. We have one at our shop and it tows like there is nothing behind the truck.

I don't know why they split the TRD option in 05. It was a lot easier on prev gen Taco's....all the TRD models came with a locker and 16" wheels (01-04--I hear ya on the 17's)
