Noob here from NYC

whats going on everyone?
I currently have a Subaru Legacy GT but i'm not here for my private interests, lol
I operate yellow taxicabs in NYC and I'm obligated to buy 4 hybrid cars for taxi use. Although 100 percent of my fleet vehicles are Fords (crown vic's) I dont feel comfortable buying a ford Escape. I strongly feel the Highlander Hybrid to be a superior vehicle- I just hope it can withstand the tortures of NYC driving.
I look forward to using this site to it's full potential to gather information before I buy and during ownership.
Thanks,
Jason

As a NYC driver and owner of a HiHy, I can tell you that it can withstand the rigors of NYC. It shares the same engine and platform as the Lexus RX330, 400h and Camry V6 3.3 liter. The tranny is a CVT. It acclerates very well. In cab use, it should average 17-24mpg. I get about 19 on streets, 24-27 on avenues, 24-29 on LIE,BQE,GCP in traffic.
My only concern would be the three battery vents under the passenger seats. I don't know if there would be an issue with the vents getting clogged or covered. Someone more qualified than me would have to make that determination.

Welcome to the Forums!

Have you considered the Prius? Apparently they are pretty good in traffic and will withstand the rigours of Taxi Use.

Don't worry. Enough time around here - and we'll get that Subi Bug out of you and into a Lexus

j/k. Enjoy Your stay and i do love the Legacys...
