1997 Camry LE replace cloth manual seats with leather power seats...need wiring help!

Howdy all! I own 2 Camrys; a 1993 & 1997 LE. The 1997 has a 2001 engine installed. Bought off a junk yard and replaced blown engine. I have upgraded the 97 considerably by adding a spoiler, leather, low-mileage 01 engine, sound system, etc...

The problem I am having is that I cannot seem to get the wiring hooked up correctly for the power seat to operate on the driver's side. I have all the correct wiring that was pulled out of a 2000 Camry, which is where the seats came from. I need to know which wire I splice the blue-white wire with. This is my only problem. It is the power. If anyone has any advice, or has done this switch, please advise.

Firstly, Welcome to the Forums!

Secondly, There is two ways of doing this depending on which side the wires come from on the seat and where the wires are to the rear of the car (Remembering, you are talking to a RHD owner). And assuming you are talking about the B+ wire.

If the wires from the seat are heading in the direction of the centre console, the easiest would be to splice into the constant power to the Radio. That is of course if you want the seats to work all the time (If not, then the B+ on the Cig lighter should do). The other way is to go down the side of the car and into the main fuse box. Find a wire there that has constant 12v power (Do you have a multi-meter?) and splice into it.

You may find more help in the Camry Forums though. Have a browse around and enjoy your stay..

need to get power to my seats

Hello,
I am new to this forum but I have noticed that you did something that I am trying to do myself. I bought a set of replacement seats for my 98 Camry but the new front seats are power and the old ones are manual. I have heard of people adding power to them and supposedly it's not that hard but I would like to get some advice on this. What is the first step? Do I strip the wiring harness out of a Camry with power seats at a junk yard or is there another way to just run power. Both driver and passenger are power. Thanks a lot for any help with this.

Simon
