Hey there,
Since this is the place to introduce myself, I'm John and I'm pleased to meet you all

What brings me to this forum is I'm a first time car buyer (I've just turned 18) and I just bought a 1989 Toyota Camry. I'm a computer junky and not so much a motor head (pardon me if the term is offensive

I really don't know any better). There are a few things that need to be fixed up before I get it inspected, but I don't know where to start. I'm sure we've all been in that seat before, so I'm sure you guys can relate.
Anyway, here is a list of the problems I'm experiencing:
- The automatic seat belt on the driver side doesn't go into the upper position. It just sits there. I'm guessing it could be that the motor is bad. I don't know, though.
- The passenger side power window is funky. I can't control it from the master panel, but I can lower it from the passenger panel. If I want to raise it from the passenger panel, I have to take a wire and manually reverse the polarity.
- The rear driver-side window doesn't work at all from either the master panel or that panel.
- The power door locks don't open from the master panel, but work just fine from the passenger panel. All I can do is lock the doors from the master panel, but then the driver door lock doesn't respond to either panel.
- The seller said he disconnected the horn because the alarm would constantly go off. I don't know how to reconnect the horn and disconnect the alarm, or reconnect the horn and fix the alarm.
- The rear inside light doesn't work.
Those are the things I need to get fixed before I get it inspected. Aside from that, my power mirrors don't work. Beyond that, all it needs is a radio and a tune-up.
I'm sure not many people come on the forum like this just asking questions

I love working with computers and I hope to learn my way around the mechanical side of cars, too. I just don't know where to start.
Also, are 89's Gen 1 or Gen 2?
