Obligatory Intro

greetings and salutations. I'm capn_midnight, I am something of a mad scientist, and I have a drinking problem (erh... whoops, wrong forum).

A friend and I have a 1991 Camry sedan with the 4cyl (3S-FE, right?) and auto tranny, that I'm using as a project car. It was in a minor accident that smashed the head lights and grill. It still runs, especially when we remember to remove the clock fuse so that it doesn't drain the battery. We've managed to straighten the frame and radiator out a bit but are still sans-headlights and grill. We've also started on weight reduction -- the back end rides noticeably hire after removing the back seats and spare tire (and everything that would come out with a socket wrench).

Primarily, we are building a dragster. Without headlights it's not street legal, so we're thinking of not even worrying about ever making it street legal again. We got the car for free, so any money we put into it is straight upgrade money. Also, this basically gives us license to do whatever we want with the car, we aren't worried about breaking it. I'm interested in doing an engine swap, I can get a 2VZ-FE from a guy for $300. I'm also interested in a tranny swap. I know they will be hard, but that's kind of the point, it's all about learning. Also considering boost, though probably later on in the project, like one of the last things we'll do.

My daily driver is a 2005 Honda Civic coupe that I've lightly modified for fuel mileage. I've had it for a little over a year and I've already put 40,000 miles on it.
