I bought a 2003 Toyota certified Avi for my wife in July. I bought it because she liked it. Its a nice car for sure, but not my style. Of all the cars that we looked at, I liked the Passat W8 4Motion best. Fast, smooth, autobahn burner. But I also knew that buying that would be like throwing my wallet over the hill either with repairs or speeding tickets.
Even so, I am not a sedan guy. My daily driver is a 2002 MR2 or a Suzuki TL1000S. My wife hates both of them. She absolutely won't ride on the back of the bike and when we take the MR2, she keeps the window up on her side, so the wind doesn't mess up her hair.
So, we have had the Avi for a few months now and after the dealer replaced all 4 rotors (that should have been done before we bought it) it is flawless. I am amazed that such a large car gets 30 mpg on the highway. And since it is a Toyota, it will last until we are sick of it. (I have a 95 Tacoma with 220k that refuses to even think about dying.)
Lastly, in order to piss my wife off, my kids and I refer to the Avi as either the "Buick" or the "Amazon." Terms that I'm sure have been used here. Oh, and it takes about 3 times as long to wax the Buick as the MR2,
