New Toyota owner dislikes "nanny-ness"

I'm a new Toyota owner, and looking for ways to tone down the "nanny-ness" of the car. For instance, I **always** wear my seatbelt (and so does my wife, since I nearly threw her through the windshield of a car braking to miss something, nearly 40 years ago!) -- except when turning around to get something out of the backseat. Then the ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding gets **really annoying**. I'm hoping to find something here in the older threads. Also some of the capabilities of the stereo/nav system are locked out about about 2mph. Ah, well, ain't technology wonderful?!
