New 07 Tundra (and member) posting

My wife has owned toyota's (first a Rav 4 now a 4Runner) for the past five years, and I just broke down and traded my 99 Silverado in on a new 5.7L dbl cab white Tundra. The dealer played games and pissed me off a bit but I still did "ok" and love the truck ... I had been looking at a used (04) Avalanche with the 8.1L engine but Carmax wouldn't deal at all and the gas mileage scared me off ...

LOVE the truck so far, fair amount of amenities (got the TRD SR5 with leather seat upgrade) and very comfortable and smooth. The gas mileage is a big plus too - so far I'm averaging about 17 with my style of driving, but I tow travel trailers so that will come way down once I get past break in and tow the first time (lol) still coming from a 4.8L chevy that could barely pull the rig I know this will do better and make me feel much more confident.

I've been fighting cancer (terminal) for 3 years now and just got the news that the last chemo is actually working, that we saw some reductoin and thus may get a few more years out of the old body which is what prompted this 'celebration' of buying a new rig. This is the first brand new automobile I've ever bought although I've bought a new bike and a new travel trailer, so I'm grinning pretty big right about now.

Weird thing was the dealer couldn't get me the extendable towing mirrors (nationwide backorder) and had quoted me a $425 list price and TWO hour install rate (at a 'discounted' $70 an hour) when he did get them so I hopped on ebay and found a set that I got for less then $300. I've already investigated and know I can install them in less then 30 minutes (pop off one panel, remove one quick fastener to gain access, then 3 bolts and a plug on both sides) so the dealer was gouging THERE too. BasT#Ds all of em (lol) ...

Love the truck, can't think of anything to do to it really except maybe some painting to match my travel trailer! Going to enjoy the heck out of it for as long as I can. Ciao and thanks for letting me ramble on here!

BTW quick poll: How many of YOU thought your dealer played games and tried to 'rip you off' like they did me?

First, welcome and glad to see your chemo is working.

Secondly, the dealer I had was great. I left twice with no deal (they didn't have the truck I was looking for) and they didn't forget me. Constant (non annoying) phone calls and emails got me to go back and get another Toyota...can't complain about the price either.

Yo John,

Glad to hear things are looking up in your household healthwise and vehiclewise. Smart move buying the Toyota. Right now I am waiting on a SR5 4X4 TRD Double Cab. My salesman has been upfront and a straight shooter since day one when I made the deal. No complaints. If their are any changes I will keep you posted.
