Reset the "check engine light"

Hello Donald.
Try disconnecting your negative battery terminal for ten seconds, then re-connect it to start your engine. The light should stay off. It worked on my '96 Corolla, and I was following directions from the Haynes shop manual.
Incidently, what is a Toyota Prada? I have never seen one.
Sincerely, YODA '96

The Prado is similar to the Land Cruiser here in the States. By the way, welcome to TN and enjoy your stay!

I'm afraid I have never seen two batteries in a vehicle! But do both batteries power the truck? Or does one provide power to something else?

Two batteries is common with diesel vehicles here, especially with these land cruisers. They both power the vehicle.I am not qute sure, but i think they are connected in parallel via relay during starting to give powerfull starting turn and glow plugs.
Anyway will try disconnect both batteries to reset .

Please let me know the results. It worked with my Corolla, but I think you are driving a different animal all together!
