One Toyota has led to two

Hi all -

Joined last October and have been trying to learn as much as possible about the vehicle that led me here since. The repair and maintneance info here has been greatly appreciated...maybe at some point I'll be able to contribute back.

I bought my first Toyota at the end of last October...a 1994 2wd extended cab pickup. It came at a time when I was getting just a little tired of feeding a 3/4 ton Suburban (454ci) a very steady diet of 3-buck a gallon fuel. I'm in a construction related business and regularly run up 400-600-800+ miles a week during the peak seasons. There are times I need towing capacity but I also burn up a lot of routine miles...and there wasn't much sense in putting all those miles on a thirsty vehicle.

It happened that my 88-year-old neighbor decided to sell his '94 pickup with 106,xxx miles at the same time I was in the market. My brother-in-law, who lives several hours away, is on his third Toyota pickup with nothing but the best to say about them. Talked to him...he said the truck was just getting broken in at 106 - buy it.

Good advice.

Since then I've put 18,000 miles on the truck - and developed a lot of respect for it. I've also put time and resources into it, routine maintenance and repairs as well as some modifications that make it more usefull for my purposes.

Bottom line is my wife liked it so much that when my mother said she was selling her 2002 Camry XLE...my wife said she wanted the Camry so she could turn her Explorer into the vehicle available for household kids. We have had the Camry for three weeks and two road trips...it's almost as nice as my pickup!

It means spending time on at least two furums here - and maybe more depending future household fleet acquisitions. Thanks for the site.
