Greetings---Possible Intake
Greetings TN. Im new to the forum but not new to modding cars.....
I just purchased my fiancee a 2007 V6 RAV4 and wanted, at the least, to put an intake on it. I was suprised to see that there is pretty much no support for the RAV4 at all..... not even K&N, which seems to make an intake for every vehicle, has anything for the V6 RAV4 at all.
I decided to post this here, rather than in the RAV4 forums because I have a general questions across the Toyota lines. There is a company I have experience with developing products for the Mazda line which I am considering working with to develop some products for the Toyota line...... they have done a combo for the previous gen Solara so they are semi familiar with Toyota.
The company currently has a CAI and MAF controller for Mazdas, much along the lines of the URD combo for the Tacoma and we are considering making one for the RAV4 but a lot of the research and development might be on my shoulders for testing so we are also curious if we develop one for the RAV4, how easily transferrable it would be for other cars/trucks which might use the same engine and ECU.
I however am not familiar with Toyota at all so I have a few general questions:
For Toyota as a whole, how many vehicles use the same 3.5L engine..... of them, do they all use the same intake manifolds? Is the diameter also the same? I can think of the Camry, RAV4, and Highlander off the top of my head..... do they all use the same 3.5L engine? Does anyone know if they all use the same ECU? I dont think there is a good intake for the new 3.5L Camry's so Im hoping that the intake manifold and ECU from Toyota is universal as this might prompt them to bump this up their "to-do" list.
Any help or information would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to participating in the forums.
