Canada Intro_to rust proof or not?

Whoa...
Well I have basically, for quite some time now, been on the outside looking in. But now I have made it offical. I am now TN member.

I have just recently purchased my first Toyota back early last month and I am proud to say that I'm a owner a 03 Camry SE black in colour. Between my wife and I our original choice was a RAV4 then it went to a Highlander b/c we really wanted something bigger, however in the end we settle on the Camry due to cost mainly.

I'm hoping some time soon to take pix of my new "baby" and post them but in mean time i would like to add my personal touch to the vechicle and I have a lot of questions for everyone willing to share wtih me (as well I'm willing to share my experience too.)

First off...Rust-proofing or not? which route should I take and where should I go? I'm located in within the GTA and i plan on keeping this car for the years to come...Any thoughts on this...

Well if you will be dealing with alot of salt in the winter then I would say go for it. I live in the midwest and there really is not much need for it. Welcome to Toyota Nation!

There has been some discussion in the truck section, might do a TN history search.

One issue is some asphalt coatings may trap moisture and cause rust. Might look at coatings that do not harden up, become brittle then chip allowing water in..

Thankx...For the info...
I know with me in asking this question its like "old age question to ask" and so much can be said...
But yeah! I'm in Toronto, Canada so snow is expected to fall every year with our normal conditions. So I might as well opt-up and get the damn rust-proof...

The best thing is to use oil spray. Crown rust proofing or Rust check is the best. You Spray it on once a year and your car or truck will never rust. This is used by the Ministry of transportation for their trucks. IT cost about 120 dollars
If you want you can remove the door panels first so they do not drill holes.
