hello

I own a 1998 tocoma ext cab 4x4, bought it new and it has been the best truck I have ever had. now the bug to start adding things to it has hit me.

Does anyone know where the best place to mount a 3,000 winch to it might be?

I have no push bar or any accessories as of yet on it, but I have always wanted a winch, anybody know?

Oh yea, glad to be here and meet everybody, hburner!

welcome to the forum!!!
Usually we sell a front grille gaurd and winch together, that way there is somewhere to mount the winch and a lot of times the winch manufacturers will recommend a grille gaurd for their winch. Anyway thats dealership life, I'm sure the hardcore 4x4 guys may have better ideas.

Welcome to TN! First of all it's called a Tacoma and not a Tocoma . Chips do nothing as well as the Tornado and throttle body spacers, so don't even think about those things! Second, chips do nothing as well. It's basically a 20 cent resistor you can pick up at Radio Shack. It fools your engine by telling it that the air is actually cooler than it really is thereby using more gas. The only proven methods of gaining any reasonable amount of HP is either a turbo or a supercharger, not cheap by any means, but you can get at least 75 HP with the correct fuel mods to go along with the SC and turbos.

Be careful not to over oil the K&N filter or it will foul up the MAF sensor giving you a check engine light (CEL). I would have gone with a dual stage foam filter like the TrueFlow I currently run instead of the gauze type material the K&N uses, the TF filters much better and flows better as well.

Feel free to browse our '95.5-'04 Taco forums for any other questions you may have.
