Hello from Honokowai

Hello all - been a Toyota owner since 1971, with a Crown. Since then I've had Corollas, Celicas, ES's RX's, and my experience has been great until I bought a dog of a Toyota Certified vehicle from a Toyota dealer.

To put it nicely, the experience has soured me on Toyota. Still think the engineering and manufacturing is top-notch, but I would not wish my recent service experience to anyone. Sorry for the bad news - I'm in the market again for a new car, but my experience leaves me real conflicted about Toyota. Would like to get a Prius, but need assurance that the service experience would be as good as my appreciation of Toyota's engineering and manufacturing.

Welcome to TN. Sorry to hear about your bad dealer experience. Every dealer's service department will vary in customer service so I feel that you can't just make a blanket statement implying that all Toyota service is awful. If you don't like the service at that particular dealer then I suggest you go to another one. If the first dealer really screwed you over then you can talk to the service manager, Toyota disctrict rep. and finally Toyota corp.

I did that, and got nowhere. The Celice continues to burn oil at about a rate of 1 quart per 1700 miles (never had a problem like that on any Toyota product before). Toyota would only cover oil consumption if it was worse that a quart every 1200 miles. Went up to the district rep in Torrance - no luck at all.

I don't like to complain, but Toyota should back up a Certified vehicle better than that!
