Lifelong Toyota Driver, 2007 Prius, recent 1994 4x4 pickup... primarily in search of drivetrain wisdom - no owners manual with the truck - 5 spd manual hubs. Any pointers to online manuals or knowledge base about switching modes would be most welcome!
The long form: In the 1960's I drove Chevy Nova... Figuring you could break down in any old town in the USA and the local garage could get you going again. Having had many such instances, a friend in college suggested in 1974 that if I drove a Toyota I would have no such need. Since then I drove nothng but Corollas, the occasional Tercel, Celica, Camry, except for a brief departure to Subaru (drove the Outback because it fit the need to feel like a family car but go reliably off into the woods in northern California and into the snow). Would have been a much earlier adopter of the Prius but refused to pay a premium, never test drive, wait 3 to 6 months, and take what comes in!! Got the PRius early 2007 and LOVE it.... but it wouldn't take me all the places my outback did....so now I get to go out offroad doing photography... I bought the Toyota truck for the same reason I started driving Toyotas in 1974.... I know it won't leave me out in the wilds!
