08 limited running boards

Hi, I'm new to this site and to Toyota. I am waiting for our new Highlander ltd to arrive and I think my wife will need running boards for entry and exiting the vehicle. If anyone has any experience with factory or aftermarket boards I would like to get some opinions from you on what would be the most secure and usable. The pict. that Toyota had was vague and hard to tell whether they were just for looks or could be used safely

We have running boards on our 2008 Highlander Hybrid,so far we have not needed to use them I am5,9 80 years old,wife is 5-5,and she gets in and out without using the boards. More for looks I think.
