Hello All
Hi all,
I just wanted to say hello to everyone as I depart from Nissan forever and now join a real car company.
Here is my story:
I just recently purchased a 2008 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SL. Well, the car began pinging on the second day of ownership. The car's engine continues to ping even though I have gone through about 5 tankfuls of 93 octane into this poor excuse of a car. I bought it on 11-20-2007. The Nissan service techs claim that the car is operating normally and that they went through all kinds of diagnostics which I call BS on.
Ladies & gentlemen, as a person who has studied engines (Nissans in particular) there is no reason whatsoever for an engine to ping, especially when using premium fuel. If your car's engine is pinging then well my friend(s) you have a problem with your car. Unless you are putting in 87 octane into your car then the car should not ping one bit under no circumstances. Engine ping robs an engine of power and efficiency. It also shortens its expected life span.
The sad part to this story is that I used to live, breathe, sleep, and eat Nissans. I used to love those cars so much, but after this being my 4th disappointing Nissan product I decided that it was time to leave a company that just keeps putting out nicely styled yet mediocre products. I have yet to be totally satisfied with a Nissan vehicle purchase (hence my user name now) and hope that Toyota can satisfy that sense of satisfaction that I am looking for. I am tired of driving a car questioning what certain weird sounds are. I just want to be happy with my vehicle purchase!
I plan to take a huge loss on this 2008 Nissan Maxima as I trade it in for a 2008 Toyota Avalon Limited, but happiness is priceless folks and I am not about to try to even have Nissan replace the engine on this car if they have to because that would be like heart surgery and the car will never be the same.
I tell you all, Ward's Best Engine for 13 years straight? HA! I have yet to experience this "world class engine" as it continuously lets me down.
Anyway, thank you all for your time in reading my rant. I hope you all accept me into your Toyota community with open arms, because coming from Nissan I sure need lots of loving hugs.
