Hi. I have a mint '94 Camry 3.0 V6 3vzfe down here in New Zealand. This is a lowish mileage car that disgraced itself while towing my Model T to a rally. The top of the radiator (plastic) came away from the core. Having gotten that fixed, the head gasket was found to be leaking after a test.
It is now non drivable, and the local garage wants more than I paid for the car to do head gaskets. As with most mechanics, their solution is to walk away from the car. I have put very few miles on it, and believe in fixing things.
Can you guys give me some good advice.
I have heard that the blocks are soft on these 3vzfe motors, and that they are a BAD motor as they corrode their blocks. True?
My two options seem to be...1.pull the heads and if the block seems corroded, go for a second hand motor. 2.Just go for the second hand motor because it is the cheaper option.
Being a very basic mechanically ( I like my Model T), the plumbing around these modern engines makes me feel a bit scared.

Even an engine change looks daunting. I do have a good workshop and tools though.
Any advice welcome!!!
Nevin
