Thumbs up new member-really old car! '72 Hi-lux

Hello all,
This is what the www is all about!! Hope to get more info here than at my local parts house! They just smile, sadly shake their heads and say goodbye when I ask for parts. I inherited a rust free , relatively low mile
1972 Hi-lux pickup. It been used enough that I'm not afraid to drive it, but since it sat awhile, driving more regularly is sort of shaking out all the bugs. Right now I need a heater control valve. All the parts places tell me NLA (no longer available). Any ideas? Is this the same, or modifiable from another Toyota? or another vehicle? Next problem is how to make a later style speedometer with the plastic cable connector match up to my older screw-on type cable. Ideas? Remember, the perfect machine has NO moving parts!!
