I have now had my new 2008 Tacoma for about 2 weeks. My first Toyota and so far I am very pleased.
I got a Red DC with the TRD Trailer/Sport package and threw on a bunch of factory options because I could add them to the lease that my small company is paying for as it is a work truck. I added sport pedals, factory skid plate, floor mats, bed mat, bed divider, tool box, Borla cat back stainless exhaust & air filter and got a Toyota dealer in the US to send me up the TRD seat covers as they are not available in Canada. I also drove right to the tire shop and put on some BFG ATs. They are a little larger but fit nice and look good.
I have been a Chevy guy for 30 or more years but could not bring myself to buy a new one. i still have my old work truck 94 GMC lifted, big bumpers, MT rims & tires, metal toolboxes and more and a 1956 Chev 1/2 ton that I am doing a resto-mod to.

Well I now have almost 6,000 km on Red Taco and so far am really liking this truck. I have added bed rails, headache rack, front brush guard with extra expanded metal screen across front for protection from rocks and trees. This truck is in the bush a lot! In addition I just did my first engine oil change about 1,000 km ago. Switched to Royal Purple which was pretty expensive but I have since found a good place to buy it wholesale for about the 1/2 the price it goes for up here in parts stores.
Am now looking to buy a ScanGauge II in the near future as I am pretty concerned about fuel mileage, especially with the high price of gas so far. I am not sure how long it takes to start getting max mileage but right now it appears that I am getting about 21 miles/gallon. This truck is rated here in canada as getting 28 on highway. not too sure how close I will get to that. Mid 20's would be nice!
By the way I have been visiting a lot of Toyota forums and am more than impressed by the friendly and very helpful responses given on this forum to us newbies.
Some others get down right nasty which is just not called for
Keep it up. I visit often and have learned a lot about my truck.
