Talking Alikat in Auckland, New Zealand

Just bought my 2nd Toyota - A 2001 Vitz RS in "Strong Blue"

My first was a Corolla (1990) that was an ex-write off and repaired back to road legal. It should have been left on the scrap heap to be honest. It found its way back there in the hands of the next owner.

Its only a 1300cc Vitz, Auto, but if you've ever sat on the Southern Motorway between 7am and 8am, you don't need much more than that, and if it was a manual, a clutch replacement would be a monthly chore.

My husband said I could buy the car on the provisor that I don't touch it. No tuning. Period. I was fine with that. Driving it to a friends place to show off, he started on about hes getting pricing to do the exhaust manifold, suspension, and then put a superior stereo system into as well.

So much for me not being allowed to touch it. But in the mean time, it looks like my boys at work are going to put racing stripes on, but which colour and style are still being debated in the workshop.

I even put my personalised plates on it in the pouring rain while waiting for Land Transport to open. For those in NZ who are keen and prepared to spend $700 - the plate 'VITZRS' is available for purchase.

When we're finished with the Vitz, we might stick a cage in it, convert it to manual transmission and have an instant race car for the Auckland Car Club under 1600cc class

(Also a motorsport official, so in other words, I'm a wannabe racer! Travel to events like the Clipsal Street Race, Bathurst, Pukekohe, Taupo A1 GP etc)
