My husband and I own a 2002 Lexus ES 300. We have now twice broken the key at the base. The first time was within warranty so Lexus replaced the key with no issues. This time we were out of warranty and Lexus Canada wanted $350.00 for a new key. As were going to our winter home in Mesa we decided to wait and see what it would cost there.
The Mesa dealer wanted, at first $250.00. When I explained to them that the key components still worked, open and locked doors and trunk, they reduced the fee to $139.10 plus taxes. I was so shocked

I went on line and found this forum. It seems I am not the only one shocked at this cost. I ordered a Lexus key and case, which with delivery and taxes,

was just under $22.00. I then went to Lexus and explained that every thing worked with the exception of the key being cut. They then lazer cut it for $20.00. I have now spent under $42.00 for what was originally going to be $350.00. Thank you for this forum.
