My RAV4 EVs Need Leather Seats (+Noob Intro)

Howdy. We're in beautiful Culver City, CA- a small mining community SW of Beverly Hills.

Been driving two RAV4 EVs for six years now. Haven't been to a gas station since. (Check out PlugInAmerica dot com). Can't wait for a PHEV diesel 4WD crewcab (How come Toyota only makes cool small diesel engines for the rest of the world, and not the US?).

Anyway, our fabric seats are starting to fade, and I was wondering if anybody knows if the RAV seats are interchangeable pre-2000 and after-2000.

Our RAVs are 2003 year model but were built on the "96-2000 body-style.

Momma wants those heated leather seats, and she wants them now!

No clue how to help you on the seat issue. ...you could try calling an import salvage yard, they have records of what is interchangeable from model to model and year to year.

Thanks for the reply! I checked salvage and they wanted as much for theirs as it would cost to have mine recovered.

All I can say about the RAV4 EVs is that they are, hands down, the best cars I have ever had. True, you can't drive it to Vegas, but when we go out to the sticks, we just rent a car.

Well, we COULD drive to Vegas- chargers presently exist that can charge our cars in 18 minutes (about the time it takes to stretch the legs, pee, and buy a Big Gulp™)- we just don't happen to own one:^O

The first is a site run by a friend of mine up in Davis, CA- Darrell Dickey. He is the absolute guru of RAV mods (many of which would be cool on the gasRavs as well) including replacing all inky bulbs with LEDs, as well as a plethora of other doodads and gadgets.

The second is an organization I work with that advocates moving our entire transp sector away from fossil fuel and foreign dependence on oil. Regardless of your political affiliations, when you have former CIA director James Woolsey (he's on our board) saying that electric drive has become a matter of national security...well...that's truly something!

Have you heard Toyota has sold a million hybrids? WooHoo! Go Toyota! Though we advocate moving away from gasoline as fuel, hybrid success drives down the cost of batteries so important for all us crazy folk who prefer zero-emission silent running.

Now if Toyota would just introduce a diesel-electric series-hybrid Hilux CrewCab 4WD pickup truck, I would be in HEAVEN!:^O
