Help!!! I need help doing a 5sfe swap

I just sold my honda and got out before becoming a victim of honda theft.

I recently bought a 1991 Mr2 5sfe N/A and the motor and tranny is giving up on already. I need to find a replacement swap.
It is hard to find parts for this car. I called dealers and junkyards and they tell me that they have nothing for me.

However, they are only looking for parts based on make and model, not based on compatibility. I know for sure that there are other 5sfe motors in other model camrys and celicas that can drop right into my MR2.

I need to know which year/model of the 5sfe from a Camry or Celica will drop directly into my 91 Mr2.

Some folks told me that year of the model might not bolt right on to my car but never really gave me a specific year and model of the 5sfe.

Please let me know asap or I will end up grabbing another honda.

mr2's are rare cars and sometimes is hard to find parts. i suggest making it turbo. Drop 3sgte motor but depends what kind of goals you want. Theres always mr2 ppl selling 5sfe cheap. I sold one locally couple of months ago for $400 with tranny 88k. but if you looking for motor i would check ebay.com theres a guy from NJ that sells mr2 motors or check in mr2.com , mr2oc.com for the local guys selling one. I seen 5sfe in rav 4 also, i think you just need the mr2 tranny.

p.s whats wrong with your motor and tranny?

Welcome to TN
I got you message on my Car Domain Page. I have made a post in the General Discussion section of this forum to see if I can get a list of all the Toyota Models/years that utilize the 5sfe engine.
I agree with 93TURBOMR2, the 3sgte engine is really the best alternative for you. Bolts right in. Lots of aftermarket support for this engine and it's almost bullet proof with it's iron block. 300hp is very easy to get to.
Check out the MR2 section of this forum. Lots of guys there who know the MR2 inside and out..

Here's the thing, my 5sfe is burning lots of oil and my tranny grinds like shit. I would love to do a 3sgte full clip but according to my research, all I can find is anything that will run me $3000-$6000. Not only so, I don't know how to do the swap on my own which would cost a lot for a tuner shop to do for me. I am running on a low budget. A 5sfe swap would be cheaper to afford but if you know any way I can get a 3sgte swap for cheap, let me know.

It is not like a honda or acura where everything is very general. Just the looks of the engine bay of the Mr2 gives me a headache.

It's not as bad as it looks in the engine bay. But given your present circumstance, you might wanna stick with the 5sfe.
