My new 'used' Toyota
The car is a 1997 Toyota Corolla I purchased on 7/3/08 - for my teenage daughter. It's a 4dr sedan, 1.8 engine, 4 spd auto, gold exterior, beige interior, AC, PW, CC,
119,000 miles. One owner. Body very straight - in fact, there are no dents or scratches. Windshield cracked.
Paint faded only on hood. Engine compartment not sterile clean like my jeep which I constantly wash - it looked, well, like an engine compartment, but it did clean up nicely. Drove nice, AC worked, interior needed cleaning, but all stains came up. Dash had a few cracks. Headliner starting to separate ever so slightly where it meets the windshield. As I was test driving the vehicle (I was the first to come out to look at the car), two other buyers showed up - it was the second day of the ad. No time to think. No time to take it first to a mechanic. No time to wrangle the price - it was $2,800 or best offer. I was putty in the seller's hand.
Needed to change the oil, flush the radiator and transmission, realign the door lock rod in the driver's side rear door to open it ($60 Pep Boys) and remove and reapply the tint which is curling badly. Then, I have to get the vehicle maintenance history from the dealer (Camelback Toyota), because it may need a timing belt replacement and tuneup. My only complaint is an annoying rattle which may be coming from the plastic center console. I think I got a good deal, but only time will tell.
