Hello to all from northeast Oklahoma, USA.
I have owned a 1985 extended cab pick-up for about five years, 22R/5speed/2WD/IFS/longbed, rough interior, rough exterior but "only" 160,000 miles on a vehicle that I've found to be very durable, dependable, economical, and relatively easy to work on. I was previously driving a gmc p-up that was on it's last legs when a relative told me he'd found a Toyota truck that was within my financial range but needed some work. When I first saw it I thought he was crazy! The drivers side was pretty much bashed in from the door to the fender and the interior was trashed (heavy nicotine aroma, years of sun exposure on the dash and seats), the brakes were shot and the timing chain was due for replacement. But it did start, run, and drive straight so I spent the 300 bucks to bring it home.
When I started visiting local boneyards looking for parts I noticed that most of the odometers in the old Toyotas were at least at 150,000 miles, 200,000 was not uncommon, and I found at least two that were over 450,000 miles! That was enough to convince me that my "new" truck was worth the time and expense to keep running. It still isn't much to look at, but I've never had a problem with it that I couldn't fix myself, even on a limited budget.
Sorry to ramble, guess all I meant to say is that I've only owned one Toyota because it's the only one I have ever needed.
I will probably mostly be lurking, looking for good info that can be found here, but if there's ever a time I can help someone with my born-from-necessity experience, I certainly will.
Thanks for an invaluable site, keep up the good work! BR
