Twice Bitten Once Shy

Or whatever the heck that saying is. Welp a little about me born and reared in the Bay Area, California moved all the way to the Midwest at 18 to follow a girl which I'm now married to. Her parents bought her a 1997 Toyota Corolla DX with 60,000~miles for around $6,500 the year she moved out to the Midwest and we have been driving it ever since. Now at 180,000+ miles only work ever done on the thing was a starter so I was smitten by Toyota at the young age of 17. Thinking it's up in it's ages my father and I were on the hunt for another Toyota for say around $10,000. Hard to find the guy shows me an '01 with over 110,000 and that's where I was pretty much right now as I walked away he thought of the rough tradein he got in just last night. A 1998 Toyota Camry V6 with only 55,000~miles. After looking it over and test riding it it felt real good. Cosemtily it needs a back bumper and some of the door knock trim but other than that oil change had been kept up every 5,000miles and timing belt had already been done maybe just a week before trade in. Looking it over with the wife, my parents and her parents we all think it's a go. We get it out the door for $4,500+$187.50(BS sales prep crap) I think we got a good deal and again I'm with Toyota. That's me and my cars, I'm a MPG fool with the Corolla and a 250 Ninja that nets me about 75MPG but this Camry needs somthing that V6 is giving me 20MPG on a good day. Redid the oil last night and the plugs whenever I get time this week. Nice to meet you all should have done this along time ago.

Welcome to Toyota Nation
Replacing the plug wires , cap and rotor may net you a few more MPG's. Glad to have you on board..

So replacing the wires can help with MPG more than the plugs themselves? Sorry not a huge gear head but still not willing to pay for things I can try and learn myself.

They are a critical part of the ignition system. If they are the originals, it's past time to change them. A system kept in it's best form will yield its highest perfomance.
There are several factors that determine mileage.A tuned and fresh Ignition system, clean oil, properly maintained cooling system, proper tire tire inflation, size and condition of tires, road and terrain conditions, aerodynamics, speeds driven,
and driver's habits and handling of the vehicle.

Awesome thanks, I've got the clean oil, proper tire inflation, stock size Goodyear Via 2's, and speeds driven not a problem.
