gen 7 First time Toyota owner!

Hey there!

I'm new to the site!
I just bought a used 1997 Corolla CE 4A-FE (1.6L) 5-spd with 116,500+ on
the odo. This is my first ever Toyota and I heard that Corollas can take
a beating and still run forever.

Anyway, the car is in pretty good mechanical shape and runs very well
for its age.
The only thing I noticed was the CEL was on so I had it plugged into a
code reader and it said that it was misfiring on cyl #2. The car didn't
seem to be sputtering or feeling like it was lacking in power, but I just
I went ahead and had a full tune up since, according to the service
tech, it would seem that the previous owner never had it done because it
still had the OEM plugs and wires.
Now that I had that done, the CEL is off and the car seems to be running
even better.

I just filled it up and so we'll see what I kind of MPG it'll average. I'm
guessing it will get somewhere in the low to mid 30s in city driving,
but I'll find out at my next fill up.

Interior wise, it's in very good shape. I'm guessing the previous owner
must've kept it garaged because usually, you can tell where the
dashboard is faded or cracked, after years of exposure to the sun, or
the seats are faded or scarred, or the carpet is fairly worn out, but
overall there's not much wear and tear for a vehicle this old.

On the outside, it does have few bumps and scratches, but the paint is
in fairly good shape, except for some small spots where there's some
peeling, but overall it looks great.

I think I got a pretty decent car for the money so hopefully it'll last
me for a while.
You can see a few more pictures of it and my other rides, just click on the model names below my signature.

If there's anything I should know about this car, I would greatly
appreciate it.
I look forward to getting to know you all.

JT

I'm liking that 350Z Six-speed. WOO HOO!

Welcome to the site. Your Corolla will run longer than you do.
