hi am writing this in hopes of gathering some help/information. I am the owner of a 1997 Toyota Rav 4. I have been very happy with my vehicle and it's performance for the 10 years I have had it. That is until 4 weeks ago when, as I was attempting to leave work for the day both my airbags simultaneously exploded for no reason. I did not hit anything, there was no accident, no impact of any kind. I am 8months pregnant so needless to say the explosion itself was traumatic, nevermind the burns I suffered to my arm, and the damage to my car. I was instructed by Toyota Canada that Government Affairs would be looking into the situation and in the meantime to take it to the dealership where I purchased it 10 years ago. They (the dealership) have been great, but unable to find any diagnostic reason for the airbag deployment. Toyota head office's reply to me at this time is they are waiting to hear back from Govt affairs but I have now been without my car or any other car for 4 weeks. I was directed to the president and ceo of Toyota North America, who replied that because I was in Canada the matter would have to be dealt with by Toyota's Canadian head office. (ie back to the begininng).. Please reply if you have any advice or suggestions on the best way to recoup my vehicle and the loss of it for the past month. I would far rather settle this amicably and without having to resort to any sort of back handed or legal methods. Oh yea, and the baby is due now in 4 weeks.
