Hello All,
Joined today. Found you with a Yahoo search. Aug. 2007 I bought an 88 4Runner, SR5. It has the 3.0L V6 with an auto trans., with 226,xxx miles (now). It had no radio, but the A/C worked. The elec. antenna worked but had no metal when it went up, just that plastic. All other options in the SR5 package worked as well.
This is my first Toyota. I bought it to be a daily driver/ mild off road vehicle. I also bought it for the removable roof. I always liked that about these vehicles. I also thought it would be better on gas than my 87 Dodge W 150. It isn't.
I am slowly modifying it to my liking. I have added; a CD player, A/C power inverters, CB, big tires, new leafs and shocks (lift 2" by shackles), front differential drop spacers, off road rear bumper. I am also, slowly, doing body work and primer. I plan to do all the work myself, learning as I go, buying tools as I go, taking welding classes as I go, etc., etc.
This vehicle runs well enough, smooth enough, has little engine power though, always starts, everything still works. All in all, pretty good buy for $1800.oo. If and when it dies, replacement motor (and other stuff) is unknown.
Thanks from Reno, NV
Phil Delfino
