Introduction & question
Hello fellow Toyota fans. I started with Toyotas when I was a teenager then moved on to other cars, got married, & have two great boys. I now own a 2007 Saturn Vue V6 which I plan to give to my older son in a couple of years. My grandmother owns a 1991 (same year I graduated high school) Toyota Corolla DX (4AFE) (AE92) which she purchased new. I will purchase this from her next year as she will not need the car anymore. It has been garage kept all its life & has 33,014 miles on it. It has a 3 speed automatic transmission. I do a lot of highway commuting & the engine (the few times that I have driven it) is begging for extra gears. If it were atleast an overdrive I would leave it alone, but it is not. I work in a tire shop & have access to a lift. What I need to know is what parts (besides the transmission, pedal assembly, & clutch) do I need to purchase. Except for the tranny & clutch assembly, I plan to buy everything else new (if I can afford it). I am sure this question has been asked but I do not see any info on it & I have searched for a while. Any info or pics on this would be greatly appreciated. SOME INFO FOR THOSE WHO ARE INTERESTED: From what I read on a CarDomain post: The instrument cluster (from 1988-1992 toyota corolla 4DR sedans) which has the built in tachometer can be installed in the non-tach 88-92 corollas & it will work (plug & play). I plan to do this soon & will follow this up with info for those interested. Thank you for a very helpful forum & for your time, 1991 toyrolla.
