trouble getting automatic into gear

Hi. New member. Recently purchased 89 U-Haul w/ dual wheels, V-6, automatic. Son and I are having a blast converting into flatbed. Runs great with few exceptions ... Very hard to start when cold and have trouble getting out of park. If I push shifter up until I hear a "click" then will come out of park. Any advise on either from either from you great minds ?

89 3.0v6 starts hard when cold. Acts like its not getting fuel. After it starts, it runs great.
