USA My Highlander Limited

I've already used this site enough that I had to join!

I purchased a 2001 Highlander Limited from a family member and could not be happier.

I have two small boys (6+9) who love the truck and I think my wife may be a little jealous! She has a relatively new Ford Fivehundred which was our "good" car. I was driving a 98 Mercury Sable which was perfectly fine except for the 100,000+ miles.

Since we got the Highlander I purchased an extended warranty and changed the oil to Amsoil Synthetic at the strong urging of a fellow firefighter and Toyota Camrey owner. He loves his Toy and threatened to purchase my Highlander if I didn't.

The boys were very excited to be picked up in the HL from school and it already has gone camping with my Cub Scout Pack (I'm Cubmaster). Way easier to pack than the Sable.

The HL has a 2" reciever hitch so my wife purchased a Gator lighted cover for it. She loves her Gators!

I'm a firemedic for a fire department in the Orlando, Florida metro area. That means I drive to work 8 times per month.

Right now I'm looking for a cargo cover and I'm willing to pay about 50 bucks for that, so I'm waiting for a great deal!

This web site helped me figure out a few things, except I actually went to a VW forum to figure out how to get the HomeLink Remote to work with my Genie garage door opener. I am now an EXPERT, but it took me two weeks to figure it out!

This is my first Toyota and my first foreign car. My sister has had Toyotas and now has a Forerunner in Las Vegas with 4WD. Her husband is greatful for that due to the snow right now!!

I remember her first Toyota (a Celica I think) was destroyed by a deer in upstate New York, but her first husband survived without injuries. Deer---not so much.

My only complaint (minor) is the cup holders on the center console. There has to be a better way to hold beverages! I disassembled it and ran it through the dishwasher to clean the thing out. Looks pretty good now, but not a great design. Also wondering how I'll install an amateur radio in this thing! They should have put a 12V outlet in the console. Also....can the 12 volt outlets be set to be always on rather than only with the ignition or accessory on? Just a thought.

Best wishes for a Happy and healthy New Year!!!
