Hey guys and gals, TT reporting from Houghton, MI. No, no, not Canada... they're across the water. We got nearly two feet of the white fluffy stuff today, though.
I drive a 1989 Camry 4-cyl LE, stock, that grandma bought new back in the day. Power locks, windows, mirrors, tilt, basically everything but sunroof and AllTrac

... It's got about 83k miles, but it's rusted like any other car up this far north. I got into doing my own repairs on it when I realized that mechanics don't always do what they're supposed to... It was having intermittent starting problems, despite several mechanics and a dealership looking at it, and I got sick of it and grabbed a Chilton's from the library (turns out, it just needed the front L fender battery-chassis ground cleaned).
Anyway, keeping my car on the road and functioning is an ongoing project, and I hope to tap your unending knowledge as I tackle issues in the coming weeks and months. Currently, the issues are this:
-plastic gas tank shroud is hanging by it's back bolts. I haven't got the tools up here (at school) to tackle it, so that much is going to have to get mechanic'd. Besides, I have no way to get the car in the air.
-Power locks stopped working AGAIN. I thought they were fixed after I cleaned half a dozen ground leads under the hood. Don't know what's up now....
-Interior door panels need to be reassembled. I have a post in the "how do i tell what model camry this is?" thread. Hoping the power locks have nothing wrong in there, that'd be a pain.
-Wiper delay doesn't work, wipers don't return down at end of any cycle, without holding mist until they do. I read this is the combo switch?
-Rust! arg!
I hope I can contribute to the Toyota community! See you around!
