Hello all, just joined this forum and hoping to hear & read about options to get my '96 special edition Avalon back on the road. We have loved this car and want to keep it but the engine is blown and not sure who to turn to. My daughter has the car in Milwauke (WIS), it's in great shape body-wise and everything works (except of course the clouds of smoke). I am not in WIS and am interested if it's worth it to replace the engine and hopefully get another 200,000 miles. Thanks for this great forum, regards.

Need more details on engine condition. What makes you say the engines' "blown"? You mentioned smoke, does it run? Has a compression test been done? Checked for oil in the coolant? Checked for coolant in the oil? I would make these determinations before deciding on a course of action. Rebuilding an engine is way cheaper than buying a new car.
