USA Hello T-Nation from So. California

Wanted to say hi to everyone and to also say "WOW" what a great site. Well it looks like i might be a Camery owner soon. I've been looking for a used car for a while now and 2003 Nissans Maximas was where my eyes landed until just the other day.

Saw the 2005 Camery Le 4cyl. and knew this was going to be the one. Haven't studied them that much but have driven the 4's trying to watch my mpg's. Seems like it has ok pick-up but seems to have a slight delay. Is this normal? was reading something about how Toyota's transmittions are now electronic or something. That matters why?

Just saw one at a dealer for around $14,000 - 39,000 miles. Nice too very clean inside and out. Was thinking of buying it but just saw another one on the internet across town at a exotic car lot.

Have seen on line but not live yet. Description is more than what i've been looking for (XLE V6) 10,000 less miles but can't beat the price, same as LE (if it is as it seems). Am going down tomorrow to see and drive. If all's well - IT'S MINE! California car too, no rust due to no weather out here but far and few. Wonder if a V6 also has a delay when staring up on the highway. Anyone know? and why? What should I look out for on these cars? Any pointers?

My last car is about to be a 1986 Mazda 626 gt turbo 5 stick and the one before was a rebuilt (by me) 1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA Turbo 5 stick. All were reliable (rebuilt what I could-kind of a hobbie) All sticks, all high performance (yep, even the Mazda). I'm use to a stick and need a car to move when i need it to move. Out here in traffic hell you only get a small window of time to get in or out of situations and I can't have the car want to discuss my decision to move when I need it too. Not so much power as much as response time. This was my concern with the Camry. Wasn't sure if a V6 will matter or if this "take a breath first thing" is just a Toyota thing. Not a big deal, nothing I couldn't get use to just want to know it isn't something the owner before me messed up on the poor car.

A little nervous about this but hoping for the best.

Anyways have a few friends that recommended this site for it's knowlegeable members, quick answers to questions, and again - GREAT SITE!

My exwife had a V6 Camry xle. It had great excelleration and throttle response. Especially for an auto trans. When you hit the passing gear, it would push you back in the seat alttile. Needless to say, she really didn't like the way I drove her car!The V6xle is a great car.
I didn't know there was a turbocharged GTA! That must've been awsome! I can only imagine what a turbocharged V8 must feel like. Got any pics of her?
Welcome to the forum....

OMG I am now a Toyota owner..... very happy!

Well I can't believe it..... That Camry at the exotic cars place turned out to be on the level. Go figure..

Turns out that some older guy wanted a benz and traded in his 2005 camry. Lot owner just wanted the car off his dream car lot. Have to admit it did stick out.

After test drive and a trip to the dealers for a AAA pre-car buy inspection, he was willing to negotiate the price a little lower and here I am with a 2005 camry xle v6 and all the goodies. Had to have been the smoothest car buy i've ever been involved with. Will have to get use to the leather seats (hate leather seats out here in So.Calif.) or come up with something.

Looks like there are airbags on the side of the seats and it says I can't put seat covers on them for obvious reasons. Got to be something I can do. Anyone know if there are seat covers made with (airbags in seats) in mind?

Hey mr2bad I can say we drive the same way and I agree with you - the v6 kiss butt. Nice pick-up and power to spear. And get this, the exotic place put new tires on the car to boot. What a catch.

Yep, you can find a GTA w/turbo but you have to search hard very few out there still. Was funny but I would be minding my own business when out of no where people would come next to me and want to race. Not sure how or if I can show pictures at my level of membership but will try.

I like the smoothness of the camry ride and the turning radious.......wow.

I've been told that i need to start looking for specials from toyota dealerships. Guess they all have different types of specials at differnt times. Not use to dealing with dealerships. Alot of things I can do myself but the rest I guess I'll leave up to them. Will need to keep track of when my car needs to be serviced.

Well glad to be part of the Toyotanation and again.... if anyone has any advice on what I need to know about this car please feel free to send it my way. Always looking to broaden my knowledge on what I'm driving and taking care of her. Thanks........

Congrats on your Camry-with new tires to boot!
You can post pics. Just follow the directions in the " How to Post PIctures " sticky . I'd love to see pics of the GTA-especially the engine bay if you have them.
Oh and we have very strict rules about street race talk. I had to edit that part out of your post.
We look forward to seeing you in the Camry forum.
