4th Generation Hello guys -- Considering a new toyota in the family!

Hi all, I'm from NYC. I was out with my grandpa looking for a car for him and came across an 00 camry v6 LE. I was very impressed with it, so I am considering buying it, b/c it was much better than all the other crap i've sifted through today. I am going back tomorrow to make or break the deal, but would appreciate some input on what to look at tomorrow. My thread can be found here: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/sh....php?p=2713927 Thanks all!

Thanks guys!

We ended up getting it -- grandpa loves it! It needs some TLC maintenance (its at 78K miles looks like 60K was never done =/) And it needs motor mount(s) as there is a slight jerk when letting go of the gas while accelerating. But thats livable with for the price, compared to the other junk thats on the used car market right now.

Thanks for the welcomes guys

Ended up getting it for my grandpa after all -- he loves it! Needs some TLC but the car is an awesome cruiser otherwise.

Some thoughts:
1)Holy crap that engine is smooth, can't even tell the car is on from inside the cabin (noise blocking seems good as well)
2) Holy crap that suspension is soft -- I'm used to my Saab with KYBs and my father's Acura TL-S -- so that was a change, but I think my grandfather loved that its comfortable like that, so perfect.
3)Holy crap -- you wouldn't think it, but that's a pretty torquey engine.

As you can see, I was quite surprised by it. Reason being, generally I have not been a big fan of toyotas (I despise my girlfriend's 98 Rav4), but this might just be the one that changed my mind!

What's a good site to buy parts from? Local stores have nothing for this toyo, not even the most common parts like air and oil filters.

You should check out the Camry section and ask the crowd there. You should get great information about parts and local stores for your new baby. Again, glad to have you aboard....
