2010 Corolla S, saying hello!

Not that I expect anyone actually reads in here, but I thought my first post on a Toyota forum should at least be in the introductions section! I was active in club3g.com and eclipseforums.org for my 01 eclipse GT.

I purchased my 2010 Corolla S in Classic Silver Metallic at Freedom Toyota of Harrisburg. It has the all weather package, S EVP#3 (wheels, power stuff, cruise remote), moonroof, wheel locks, and mats. In dealer speak, the optional equipment is "FE, CK, QC, SR, WL, DK, CF". The "subtotal before discount" price is 19,972, the "total after MSRP discount" is 18,832, according to the sticker. We traded in an older SUV with some issues which we figured was worth about 500$. We didn't talk price on the new car, instead we talked it on the old one. In the end the SUV got us an offer of 2300. I figure they don't care where the money comes off, and it was easier to negotiate on the old car since they didn't drive it.

We got 1k off on the new one, and 36m 0% financing with 3k down putting payments at 400/m. I think final price after tradein/discounts/tax/titles/delivery but without the 3k down was 16,600. We opted for the "Plan A" later which was the paint protection as I had problems with paint peel on my last car, and that added about 700$ on. I figured its worth it because we don't have a garage, and it sits outside all day and will be getting a lot of highway miles.

So I hope I got a good deal, but I'm already loving the car so I guess it doesn't matter!

Cheers

Edit: PS, Its 5 speed. I couldn't stand the LE in automatic.

I hate welcome forums where the seasoned members don't welcome the new ones.

Welcome to Toyota Nation Commander Bob!

Congrats on the new Rolla! Any plans for modding it or are you gonna keep it stock?

Thanks!

I absolutely plan on some minor mods. I had a nice stereo in my last setup, and I'd actually like to take it a step further in this one. Previously I had a Pioneer avic-f700bt in-dash navi, 6.5" component Pioneer D series up front and a set of Polk 6x9's in back, powered with a kicker 350.4 4 channel amp.

The stock corolla audio system is absolutely terrible. I like the setup of the radio, that's about all the positive remarks I have. Already the paper coned woofers are buzzing, and looking at the 6x9's from the trunk they are of terrible design. I'll probably keep the speakers I have, but I'd like to upgrade my amp to an Alpine PDX-5 and purchase some type of shallow mount subwoofer- probably a JL 13" but still looking... I'll be mounting the sub in the back left corner in what will be my first custom box, and depending on clearances I'd like to put the amp under a front seat. I'm probably also selling off the f-700bt in favor of building my own touch screen car pc. The avics improved drastically when they released the 3.0 firmware (I put one in my girlfriend's 99 civic at the same time I got mine, but purchased the 3.0 upgrade for hers a week ago) but I love custom and really want the challenge of making my own.

To further that idea, I'll be using a NanoITX or PicoITX form factor board with a built-in processor, a 160gb 2.5" sata drive that I have around, prolly 1gb ram, USB adapters for wifi, bluetooth, GPS, and microphone unless I find a nice analog mic. I'll use Windows 7 RC until it gets shut off, and Centrafuse for my main user interface, and a PicoATX PSU for car-friendly power. I'm currently trying to find out what I can get for in-dash touch screen, probably utilizing the metra dash kit. I'll have to pull the radio out in a week or two to find out what the space looks like.

Are there any mods out there for corollas for increased MPG? I'm not interested in performance- there's no helping that one . I commute ~80miles a day, sometimes more, so gas-saving is important.

Though I'll be using the search function like a good forum newb, can any reader out there point me in the direction for write-ups on panel removal? I found a sticky for DIY in my cursory search that had front doors, but though it had a lot of pictures I found it lacking in some information. Anything helps!

Check the Corolla Forum, its one of our larger sub forums and you should be able to get the info you're looking for even if it requires a new post.
