Hi from Ann Arbor, MI (and corrosive roads)

Hey all,

I'll be posting some general questions momentarily, but first I thought I'd throw down a post in here.

I'm scootin' around in a 2002 Corolla S, 1.8L, 5-speed manual. Love it! I purchased the car on EBay a little over a year ago and will say it's a vast improvement over the old clunker escort I got rid of when the gas tank sprung a leak (which was, in all fairness, a pretty solid car). The previous owner, a Toyota technician, drove it since it's infancy in and around Buffalo, NY. Car has 120k on it with only 80k on the engine.

For the most part I am a commuter driver--slow acceleratin' to save on the gas--but now and then I love to go out and punch it around some curves! I do all of the maintenance work that I am able to on my own car as I never feel very comfortable paying some gorilla with no vested interest in my car to hit it with a wrench. That being said, I am fairly new to the world of car parts and repairs. I try to do a decent amount of research and avoid stupid questions, but the majority of my posts will likely be regarding pretty basic issues.

So now that ya'll know me, hop on over to whichever thread I'm about to post a question about clutch replacement in and share some of your sage advice!
