Hey all, just signed up last week and will be lurking in the 7th gen Corolla area. I have a 95 Geo Prizm that I bought new, ended up with as my primary car after a divorce, transitioned back to Corvettes, and now my step-daughter, living at home, has taken it over. It only has about 127000 miles and still going strong.
My forum name comes from my old job as an F-4 Phantom backseater (Air Force) and my current volunteer and egress trainer status with the Collings Foundation here in Houston, where I help take care of a flyable, F-4D. We're on the web at
www.collingsfoundation.org
My daily driver was a 2002 Corvette, now it's the wife's car and I have a 2008 Corvette. The Geo is my back up (really bad weather) car. I do drive the Corvette in the rain. We also have a 2001 Subaru Outback that the aforementioned step daughter now drives most of the time.
I used to take the Geo to a mechanic for the occasional fix it items, just due to lack of interest in doing it myself and lack of decent tools. Now I enjoy doing it myself and have some good tools. Not everything I need, but enough for easy things. Plus the huge money saved by doing it myself. And the forum is a great place to find good instructions for troubleshooting and repairing things that can fail on our cars.
I hope I don't need to use the forum too often for fixing the car, but it's nice to know it is available.
