I purchased my first Toyota last month, leveraging the C.A.R.S. (cash for clunkers) program on its last weekend. After stripping off all of the accessories on my 1995 Ford F-150 4x4, I got $4,500 toward the purchase of my 2009 Highlander.
I was also going to trade my 1999 Nissan Maxima SE-Limited but the dealer didn't offer near what it was worth (nor did they have to -- I was not in a good negotiating position) so I pulled it from the deal.
My positive experience with
http://www.maxima.org had me search out and find
http://www.toyotanation.com and I registered immediately.
I chose the Highlander using buying decision tools from both Consumer Reports and USAA. While I was well aware of Toyota's reputation for quality, I had not been "bit by the car bug" nor had I developed an idea of what I wanted. But because I planned on trading both my sport sedan and my truck, I wanted a vehicle that could replace both of them with a blend of performance and utility. (i.e. big enough to carry my 63" piano flight case)
So based on test reports covering performance, quality, and safety, the Highlander rose to the top of my list.
So I now own a 2009 Toyota Highlander Limited with the V6 and 4WD (AWD). Options include Tow Package, Power Rear Door, EVPkg#7 (JBL Audio, Bluetooth, Moonroof, Rear A/C, Heated Front Seats), XM Radio, Mud Guards, Carpeted Mat Set, and Tinted Windows.
Since then, I've added the Toyota trailer hitch kit (PT228-69080) and wiring harness (PT219-48871) as well as purchased the all-weather rear cargo mat which I stowed underneath the carpeted mat.
I'm looking forward to many years of use from this vehicle!
