Hello All,
My name is Brian, I live in South Dakota.
A couple months ago, I purchased a 98 Camry 2.2 Manual Trans.
I bought it as a project, as I knew it needed a few things. I will be looking to do some standard things like the Timing Belt and a Tune up. The speedometer does not work, which ties into my Cruise not working. I assume a speed sensor is to blame there. I have read about sludge issues that some of these engines have. I hope the 5sfe from 98 is not on the list of high probability of sludge occurrences. I also need to get to the bottom of a small oil leak that must be dripping on the exhaust because at a stop, there is a strong burning oil smell. It looks like the engine is moist from oil more on the driver's side. I can't smell it while driving. Anyways, I plan to use these forums as an information resource to assist me during the next couple months. Thanks in advance!
