Long time lurker, finally making a profile. I just inherited a 1996 Toyota Camry LE Wagon from my
Grandparents. They had this '96, as well as a '97 Sedan and they never drove the wagon, so voila!
Before I got this Camry I've been driving my 2007 Ford F-150. I seriously love my truck,
but I can't afford the gas mileage, and so I'll be daily driving the Camry and keeping the F-150
as the "Weekend Plaything".
Pics for clicks:
Here's a link to my build-up thread over on f150online.com (Warning, it spans over a year and 22
pages, so it may take a while to get all the way through)...
I have a few plans for the Camry as of now. Mostly starting with a good detail (started today,
still need to finish), and installing my Alpine Headunit.
I've been doing a little poking around on here, and on the internet and I'm very excited to get
started on turning some wrenches!
I have a feeling that you're going to love the fuel mileage that the Camry achieves compared to the F-150 . Your F-150 looks great by the way! . I'll have to check out your build thread. Feel free to post some shots of the Camry sometime too
We have a very active Camry forum here, so you're bound to find all the information you'll ever need. If you have any questions about the site, just give me or one of the other staff members a yell.
Enjoy the forums, and have fun with your new ride!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I didn't have my camera with me today, but my girlfriend took a bunch of pictures. I should be able to get the photos from her tomorrow and post them. I know that I broke the cardinal rule of not posting pictures... but I just picked the car up today, I'm excited; what can I say?
Also, thank you for the welcome. It feels kinda weird to be the n00b on a forum. Most of the places I frequent, I've been a member for years! About the name, I've had it (or some variation of it) since '06, yeah it makes me laugh - what can I say?
Hi, Joe, welcome to Toyota Nation! I've got a lot of family in the St. Louis area, mostly in Town & Country and Chesterfield. If you don't mind me asking, what area are you from?

No problem, I'm in the South County area. Funny enough, I see that you are in California? I have some family in the east bay.

Cool! Yep, stuck in California for now......and living in Orange County. One of our administrators is from St. Louis too, so you may be hearing from him as well.

Sounds great!
Once again, I'm sorry to leave you guys hanging without pictures.
Some will be up tomorrow; I promise!
But really, I forgot that I took these pictures last week (when I thought I was going to pick it up - His '97 Camry was having issues, so he hung on to the '96 a week longer). Anyway... they aren't the best quality, but so everyone can at least see her.
This picture makes me laugh (look at the license plate... this was fixed as of me having the keys after, maybe 45 minutes?)
Okay, in the photo it's hard to see. Here in Missouri we got a new style plate last year. The older plates were rusted on, so the new ones were bolted on top of the old ones... We all joke in the family so Grandpa thought it was pretty funny too.
C-Pillar, what is going on here? Is this a common thing with these? The driver's side is completely fine...
Nice! It looks like your grandparents took really good care of it. Strange about the flaking on the pillar, should be a simple fix though
You aren't even kidding...
I'll scan some of it in to show you guys, but they gave me a huge packet of paperwork with it. I know what mileage was on when he bought it, I know every oil change (mileage, date, location); he even wrote down every time he got gas! I have better records on a 14 year old station wagon than I do on my truck! It's ridiculous...
Are both pillars like that or just one side? I've seen similar erosion like that on cars before where someone who gets out of the same door scratches the pillar with a ring/rings. I may be wrong but I'm betting it's on the right side only.

Yep, just the one side. But the passenger's side rear door?
