'05 Corolla S here - So. MD

Just bought a 2005 Corolla S this weekend. Needed a commutter to take the place of my '03 Ford F250 Powerstroke 4wd. Love the truck - but 18mpg just dont quite cut when driving 1000 miles a week ya know! 40 gallon tank, diesel. Good for the truck - bad for my wallet.

Parked the truck and now sporting a used Corolla S. Filled the tank yesterday morning thrilled with a $29 fillup!

Corolla is the silver variety. Black interior. Nice comfy car!

Welcome to the Nation!

Looks like you picked up yourself a winner there. Been looking for a car like that for myself to commute to/from work. I'm driving a Honda Pilot at the moment, mileage is about the same with your F250, not good! LOL

Appreciate the responses!

I love my truck - and for a 8,000 lb 550hp truck - 18mpg is good - but WOW - since I have had the Corolla - last 2 fill-ups took $29 and $26 to fill my tank! 34.8mpg & 35.6mpg! Made me happy!

Those 2 fill-ups together would not have filled the truck!

I'm having new tires installed on Saturday - passed inspection but needed 2 new rears (really didnt pass because of the rears but they gave me the inspection certificate as long as I ordered the new tires - so I did to get the certificate to get my tags!)

What can I do to reduce the heat in the car? Would tinting the windows with some sort of solar tint (dont even know if that is possible or available) help? I dont want anything drastic - but to cut some of the sunlight and heat would be nice.

Also wanted to put on a trailer hitch - do you recommend Valley or Hidden Hitch?

As someone who crawls around the deserts of the southwest I can attest to the benefits of window tinting. If you go that route I'd recommend two things: check online about Maryland law regarding window tinting so that you don't get something darker than your state law allows, and ask around online or offline for recommendations for a place to do the work as some are definitely much better at tinting than others. About the hitch I can't say since I've never towed anything in my life. You might post up to the Corolla forum and see what the members there say.

Welcome aboard!

The Corolla sounds nice, can't complain with the fuel mileage either . We have a very active Corolla community here, so feel free to look through the various threads and ask as many questions as you need.
