I am an Aussie living in Rome, Italy. I bought my 1993 Previa (known in Australia as "Tarago") new and hey, 17 years and 240K (kilos) later, it's still going strong!
I understand from Toyota Italy's house mag that only 39 "eggs" were ever sold in Italy, of which 4 in Rome, though there have been a few grey imports since. Round here, most cars are smaller than in Oz or USA so it stands out in nearly every car park.
Worse, this means that hardly any Toyota mechanic here has ever seen one, and although the training manuals are good, nothing beats hands-on experience when trying to diagnose obscure faults.
One other difference here is motorway crusing speeds. The speed limit is 130 kph but on many motorways you are in danger of being rear-ended at that speed, 140 is safer. In good conditions, I have cruised the egg at 160 for hours on end (stable, but noisy) and occasionally 180 (still pretty stable but very noisy) - and this is the regular 2.4 donk, not the SC version which never got here.
