New member.

Hello all. I'm David, a new member here, and have several Toyotas. A 1971 Crown MS75, a 1991 Camry 4 dr. (just purchased), and a 1998 Camry 4 dr. Also had a 1993 Toyota p/u, but sold it due to rust and mechanical issues. I'm in the process of refurbishing the MS75 at this time. I've been an auto repair shop owner for 35+ years, working on both foreign and domestics. Hope to be able to give some help when it's needed, as well as get some help.

I don't see any forum pertaining to the early Toyota Crowns. Are these included in another forum? Thanks, David

Welcome to the Nation, David!

Was the Crown a predecessor to the Cressida?

Toyota Crown history?

Don't know about the Crown being a predecessor to the Cressida. The Crown was offered in 2 dr., 4 dr., and a wagon. I've only seen two wagons, about 20+ years ago, and they were in salvage yards. I've seen a number of MS75 Crowns in pics, but never another in person. Saw one on eBay about 3-4 years ago in the Carolinas. They were supposed to have been offered in a very limited number in the U.S. (~800 for all 3 models?), and only a very few remain (according to some Toyota sites). Not sure of the facts on the Crown. Anyone on the forum know of the Crown history in the U.S.? How about production/ import figures for the U.S. market? Mine is a MS75 2 dr. hardtop. Anyone on the forum own a Crown? Thanks, David.

According to Wikipedia, the Corona replaced the Crown. Wow, just glancing at Wikipedia, looks like you do have quite a rare find on your hands. Would love to see some pics of the beauty!

Welcome!!!

There are quite a few Crowns here in New Zealand, but not many of the 1970's models left. I would also be keen to see some photos!

Enjoy the forums!

Toyota Crowns in the U.S.

I'm just now getting ready to start a refurbishment of the 1971 MS75 Crown. It's been buried in a building for the past 20+ years, so the condition leaves a lot to be desired. There are some rust issues, and just a few mechanical issues, namely brakes and fuel system. I'll try to post up some pictures in the near future. I may need to send them on to a forum member, and let that person post them. I'm not too computer literate when it comes to posting such things. We'll see. Thanks, David.

David, there's a sticky at the top of every forum of how to post pics, it's pretty simple to do so.

How to post pictures
